Great things have been told by Nokia at the launch of Nokia N76. No doubt that the handset poses an impressive pictures with its good looks and multimedia features, but there seems to be a lot of frustrating things about the device, that makes the users frown. To start with, it seems like the designers of Nokia N76 were a little to tired to come up with something more creative. That is why what we find in the handset is a close resemblance to RAZR and the predecessor, the Nokia N75. The handset also includes a brilliant screen, that looks much like the LG shine. But the designers loose out here as well. For some strange reason the screen comes in a small dimension, and much room is left around. Since, it is not wrapped with scratch resistant material, the screen is covered with fingerprints as soon as it is being used.

Thus, making the handset look very dirty even when new. Moreover, the squarish design of the handset makes it looks very sombre. Soft contours and a little rounded shape, would have made the handset look much more appealing. Another err in the design is that the Nokia N76 comes sans spring mechanism. Which means that the users has to use both its hand to open the clamshell. For, opening with one hand makes the clamshell stuck in a half open position. But the major designing flaw in the Nokia N76 is the positioning of its 3.5mm slot. The slot is located at the top edge of the handset. Where on one hand this saves its from protruding from the sides of the pocket, it poses problems when there is an incoming call.

In case the users gets a call while listening to the track, he first needs to unplug it, and then open the handset to answer the call. The Nokia N76 comes with the advantage of quick-access multimedia playback buttons. This does appease the music lovers and provide them direct access to the musical treat, but since it is located at the front, it is prone to automatic pressing (lest you do not keep the keypad automatically locked). Apart from designing flaw, the Nokia N76 is also not good when it comes to camera strength. The device has no GPS, no Bluetooth stereo, or integrated IM or email.
